Syrian lute player Tamam Nazeh won the third award of the 18th session of Arab Music Festival and Conference entitled "Improvisation on Musical Instruments".

Secretary General of the festival Rateba Hafni said that a Jordanian violinist won the first award, while an Egyptian lute player won the second award and a Tunisian lute player was awarded with a special Merit Certificate.

Indian Ambassador in Damascus V.B. Hern said his country intended to establish a training center in Syria in the fields of technology and information in Syria as the first of its kinds abroad.

The remarks came during a meeting on Monday between Idlib Province Governor Khalid al-Ahmad and the Indian Ambassador, said al-Baath daily newspaper on Tuesday.

Vice President John Dramani Mahama, has expressed concern about the sharp decline of educational standards in the Akuapem area and called on the traditional authorities to take steps to address the situation.
