The council of the International works for sustainable development defines the Social Responsibility as "an on going commitment from the business firms to deal in good faith and to contribute for achieving the economic development, it also mean, to work for the improvement of the living standard for the masses and the workforce, their families and for the community at large".
The Global Compact is the largest Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in the world, since it has been established The later secretary of the UN Mr. Coffey Anan with the aim to merger the private sector within the framework for a positive practices of international firms had called for an initiative that aims to encourage thousand of the prominent international companies to depend on the strategies directed toward the human rights issues, work, environment, transparency and the eradication of corruption.
The secretary general of the UN asked the leaders of the world business community at Davos forum in Swiss land in 31 Jan. 1999, to join the "The World Conventions" in order to continue to protect and promote the human rights, the work standard and the environment, in all their institutional practices and in order to support the appropriate public policies and in such context the secretary general demanded from the businessmen in the world to:
Support ,respect and protect the international human rights within the framework of their domains of influence.
Ensure that their companies are not parties in any contribution to violate human rights.
Support the cause of freedom to form societies and support the right to collective bargaining.
Support the eradication of child labor.
Support the eradication of discrimination in relation to work and jobs.
Support a good conduct toward the en
vironmental challenges.
Enhance the environmental responsibility.
Encourage, develop and spread the appropriate technology of environment.
