The Board of Directors message:

When it came into being for the first time the Social Responsibility term shock the whole world. But it soon dominated the world  stage and becomes the fastest spreading concept and the most used phrase in the speeches of the world leaders, directors of the international organizations and the leaders of multi-national companies. This concept intrudes through the core of the state policies as well, and is considered one of the most important scientific methods that lead to the fulfillment of the developmental objectives of the second millennium.

Although the origin of the Social Responsibility can be traced back to the year 1947, in the US. When the committee of Hotshire tried to formulate moral rules between the media and the Social Responsibility in liberal societies. but the world economic forum at Davos which convened in the year 1999, form an outstanding landmark in the course of the developing of the international awareness of this term, and the strictness of its formulation. It is when Mr. Kofe Annan the general secretary of the UN invited world-wide  business leaders to join the world consent initiative, which is purely voluntary, and started executing it in 26 July 2000, with the aim of enhancing sustainable development and the good citizenships of companies so as to adopt values of a worldly accepted principles.

• Further, the world business council for sustainable development has defined the Social Responsibility as the continuous commitment from business firms to deal morally and contribute in achieving the economic development and work for better  improvement of the living standard of the masses and workforce, their families, the local community and the community at large.

• CSR concept is a modern, open and inclusive term which takes the multi developmental sides dimensions. Its programmes represents a primary priority to governments of the developing  world, it legalizes toward the conceptual progressive policies of growth, it also formulates from its core a comprehensive and integrative methodological strategies in various domains, after being aware of its deadliest need to increase and explore ways that can address the needs of their societies, in order to double the flow of investment projects in their countries, these governments find no other alternative other than to add the Social Responsibility programmes to their comprehensive policies as one important arrangement that can contribute in an active manner for the  achieving of the economic and social progress of their people.

• In spite of the recent modernity of the Social Responsibility experience and its non active participation in compiling programmes and strategies for sustainable development in various developing countries, we find that the principles of Social Responsibility in Syria has witnessed an ascending growth which can be seen in its national cooperative strategy that aims to fulfill the growth goals of the third millennium, believing that to fulfill the citizens needs and achieve their broader aspirations in a better future is the basic pillar for the attainment of the comprehensive, sustainable development.

• As a part of our response to the challenge of the present phase  which witnessed a huge explosion in knowledge as a result of the information technology revolution, and the great speed of the flows of information, that contributes in the interacting of the innovative energetic brains with the appropriate infrastructure to upgrade the inputs of scientific research for achieving value added results.

• We, the people who work in SyriaCSR.org have a deeper feeling toward our country, and our people because we are convinced that the Social Responsibility is a moral investment and not at all a social prestige.

• Form that understanding a number of necessities has become crystal clear in front of our eyes and drew our attention to the importance of creating a comprehensive development to fulfill the needs of the coming generations. SyriaCSR.org will examine and acutely specifies the problems, in order to define the ways of addressing such problems through the mechanism and plans that are sufficient to attain a comprehensive sustainable development by a responsible social programmes.

• Consequently, there grows in our souls the will and the abilities to pursue the need of attaining specialized net. SyriaCSR.org shall be wide  open to everything that might contribute in boosting the society and its sustainable development.

• In the context of the procedures which led to the launching of SyriaCSR.org including the feasibility studies, the surveying studies, opinion polls, field and electronic questionnaires, there crystallize in us a number of results and recommendations, that was characterized in its contents by deepness, seriousness and responsibility which are reflected in their dimensions (to some extent) the positions of the opinions and hope of the majority of those who were interviewed.

• The results has shown, the situation of the achieved progress and the initiative that was drawn toward the Social Responsibility, without knowing the nature of the term.

• We have drawn from the progress that was achieved, the power to achieve our objectives of the mission, therefore, we have decided to benefit from that progress and move forward in launching SyriaCSR.org.

• Although the faith in attaining our goals, has galvanized the overall dogma of our cadre, but honestly speaking we could not, in any circumstance, have reach our goals, had it not for the positive interaction we have felt from those who were interviewed who were drawn from different gender groups and different age, educational, economical and social levels.

• The samples were drawn randomly, and special attention was given to gender groups.

• The most interesting thing we met in our efforts to get the network project done, appeared in the very strange concept of the Social Responsibility to many people. The concept is understood only by few from  the domain of readers and specialists.

• Our study has revealed that there are some positive results which has been achieved from the programmes of Social Responsibility of foreign companies that work overseas, though in spite of these results to such companies they work hard to attain sustainable development. Therefore, one can say that the number of axis adopted by the general strategy of SyriaCSR.org are  the ways for the success, i.e. a trail to display an integrated set of the practical benefits to support in a better way all the institutions that practice the activities of the Social Responsibility in the future.

• From the outset we decided to correct our priority in SyriaCSR.org in order to present the scale of the attained progress in sustainable development through underlining the set of procedures and practices achieved in Syria of progress in various domains, and how it actively used the growth indicators in the environment, health, culture, family, human right, disabilities and information technology and parts of development.

• Finally, as we suggest to the national and foreign companies to develop its activities by stressing the shared values and the responsible practices, and to make those values a genuine parts of its programmes.. we expect those companies to become aware of the lack of its accountability toward society in which it work. And be aware of the adverse effects of that absence on the programmes  of sustainable development. we also expect those companies to come up with a programme change that can be of greater benefits to the companies and the individuals together, we further, expect  those companies to launch products and services to enhance the assimilation of persons with disabilities in the society, and prepare cheap and very effective national plans contributing in developing the abilities of the youth.
