Desertification:

The Syrian government have designed national plans and a tough measures to combat desertification and cushion the impact of draught, through the improvement of land production strategy in regions that was affected from the draught with the reform of the water and land resources in a permanent methods, and the development of the economic environment through programs of poverty reduction, and the coordination of activities of the desertification agreement with the International Agencies.

It is being considered that desertification is one of severe environmental problems, that face the world now. it develops in many parts of the world at swift rates. it is estimated that the area that is annually not cultivated due to desertification equal to 50 thousand square kilometers , and the land that prone to be a desert is 40 per cent of the global, inhabited by one milliard people.

Syria is one of many countries that was greatly effected by climate factors that it was difficult to control. very important of these, the vagaries of the climate bouts, and the changes of different climate elements as well as, uncontrollable human behaviour used in wrong investment in natural resources and the mismanagement of the environmental system. The studies indicate that the desertification is threatening the Syrian land, it is estimated that 59 per cent of the land in Syrian is a desert, and that led to the diminishing of posture and animal products.
