Culture:

Through different centuries, and for a period of  time spanning more than seven thousand years, Syria benefited from its culturally  rich heritage of different civilizations that flourished in the country. Various old Syrian cities were lighthouses of literature and art and sources of human civilization. In the Amayyed epic, Damascus was a capital of the biggest Islamic state in the history of the Islam world, it formed  the launching  pad of art, science, literature and culture.

The Syrian ministry of culture, in order to encourage all members of the community to read, has sponsored a number of projects, activities and cultural programmes in collaboration with other organizations private and public In Syria and in the world to support the cultural movement and encourage individual through  more participation and awareness to draw  the community for  the excellence.

The Syrian cultural centres affiliate of the Syrian ministry of culture play an important role in collaboration with other national and private libraries in ensuring a lively source of reading and knowledge in addition to forums, conferences and expeditions.
